CAAB starts 2021 with a new Erasmus+ project: CLARO!  – Challenge Labels and Appearance…Reach Out! This project aims at a multidisciplinary intervention around invisible and systemic racism that seems to gain more and more strength in Europe nowadays.

CLARO! was created by associations from Greece, Portugal, Czech Republic and Turkey that agreed that it is essential to address the issue of inclusion, focusing on the individual and civil responsibility of mainstream society. Mostly in relation to acceptance of difference and respect for minority groups.

In fact, we believe that it is essential to act within the dominant culture if the dialogue between peers is to take place on an equal footing. It is not enough to assume an inclusive official discourse when, in everyday life, in spontaneous interactions, veiled discrimination remains. It is, therefore, urgent to train youth and youth workers to identify invisible and systemic racism behaviors in themselves and in others, so that they can become actors of change in their communities and in their circles of influence.

CLARO! will directly involve 24 youth workers and 40 young people from these 4 countries in an intervention that will last for 10 months and which is structured as follows:

a) Training Course for Youth Workers;

b) Local Sessions with youth from each community;

c) Youth Excahnge;

d) Local activity in the 4 involved communities.

In addition to intangible results (knowledge, skills, social, personal and civic competences), CLARO! will result in a booklet with the methodologies produced throughout the project.

CLARO! is a project supported by the European Programme Erasmus+ and by the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth.
