Get Political

We continue fighting for democracy and greater youth participation! «Politiza-te» (which means «get political» in English) aims to promote political participation from an early age through the creation of democratic mechanisms and electoral processes by age group in CAAB. Actually, our 3 volunteers will organize the process regulations, promote debates between candidates and create the electoral process with 35 children and young people of different ages.

Context

There is an alienation of young people from democratic processes, and this is even more visible in rural and aging villages. As they do not identify the village as a reflection of themselves, they tend to distance themselves from local issues. It should be added that we have seen a reduced participation of young people between 15 and 18 years old in the CAAB Assemblies, which is why we are looking for ways to resolve this problem.

Thus, we believe that democratic involvement must be developed from an early age, as it is an attitude towards the world around us. We should not expect that at 18 years old they instantly know how to vote; It is important to alert them from an early age about the importance of taking action, taking part and communicating points of view.

Therefore, we intend to build with these volunteers a representation mechanism that can be adopted over the coming years and that can be incorporated into our General Assembly. The objective is to start with monthly meetings with elected representatives and later transfer these meetings to the General Assembly environment, involving more and more young people in this body of our association.
